Heat exchangers are very important components in many industrial applications, as they enable the efficient transfer of heat between different mediums. LES GmbH has specialized in particular in the analysis and optimization of the strength properties of shell and tube heat exchangers. The classic shell and tube heat exchanger generally consists of a central tube bundle surrounded by an outer shell. However, LES GmbH also has sufficient references for the analysis of shell-and-tube heat exchangers with a central tube or with several concentrically arranged tube bundles.

In addition to the dimensioning of pressurized parts according to international standards, regulations (e.g. ANSI B31.1, ANSI B31.3, EN1380), rules (KTA, FDBR guidelines, etc.) and manufacturer-specific specifications (Users Design Specification, material data reports, etc.), our expertise lies in particular in the evaluation and improvement of the strength of tube plate constructions and vessel flange connections used in heat exchangers. We understand that the correct design of these components is critical to ensure that they can withstand operational requirements and ensure long-term reliability.

To do this, we use advanced, internationally recognized analysis methods and simulation techniques to understand the loads and stresses on the tube plates. Through detailed linear-elastic and elasto-plastic strength analysis, we identify potential weak points and develop tailor-made solutions to extend the service life of the heat exchangers and optimize their performance. We have developed our own evaluation tools to assess the fatigue/residual service life, with which we can identify the exact number of (still) permissible load cycles for each point of a tube plate design and thus estimate quite accurately which measures you can use to effectively increase the (residual) service life.
